Nasivvik Center is looking for Inuit students!
The Nasivvik Centre for Inuit Health and Changing Environments is conducting a review of Inuit post-secondary education students (Canadian regions only) this summer. Nasivvik is a multidisciplinary research and training centre within the Public Health Research Unit, CHUL Research Centre (Laval University) funded by the Institute of Aboriginal Peoples Health (IAPH)/Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). The Centre’s goal is to support training and education in the areas of Inuit health research in Canada.
The Centre is designing programs and initiatives to support the enhancement of capacity in the form of training and development of research expertise among Inuit students. However, we must first know how many and where students are enrolled in post-secondary studies in environment and health disciplines. That is why the Nasivvik Centre is searching for information on:
- Inuit students currently enrolled in College, University Bachelors, Masters, PhD, Post doc, MD, or LLB programs;
- Inuit who are working (full time, part time or summer jobs) as health and/or environment professionals;
- Inuit high school students who have taken or are taking senior science courses with the interest of continuing on to College or University for health or environmental sciences.
If you are one of these people, or know someone like this please contact us and help the Nasivvik Centre design programs and initiatives to support these interests and encourage other Inuit students to pursue an education in environment and health studies.
We are interested in finding out where you are from, where you are studying or planning to study, what program and year you are in and your career interests. Fill in the online form
Note: This list will be kept confidential and if it is to be released at any time to be used by a regional organization we will contact you first and obtain your consent and approval. We would like to use the list initially just to obtain numbers of students in different programs, where they are from, where they went for post secondary education (and why), their interests etc.
For more information, please contact us.
